I am a STYLIST.My job is to coordinate the best style for models, musicians, actors and celebrities in the field of advertisements, periodicals and CD jackets. And also does interior coordination along with food and table styling.
I would like to present my original work「DOURAKU Nippon 道楽日本」behalf the midst of my career.
The people starring in this project are photographers, directors, school principal, athletes all of whom I admire and love. I was totally inspired by each person and every character through working with them. My imagination popped up with an idea to try to change them in an absolutely in another characters!! The idea was to bring each one's unique and original atmosphere to appear in the different outcomes and costumes.
Since I was originally born and raised and have been in downtown of Edo(Old Tokyo), why not try them to style in the finest Edo Fashion ?!
Thankfully, everybody accepted the idea and offered me to cooperate with my project. Their positive energy power leads me to grow my imaginations and the result was much better than the first plan. The shootings took a time from November through December of 2013.
2011, I found myself in an unknown disease. Soon after, 3.11, the earthquake struck the northeastern part of Japan, the world was put in to the fear.
There were many events and happenings through the world out there and inside of myself, too. It’s been more than 20 years since I have started this career.
I thank all from bottom of my heart that I could have opportunity to express in one project.
My career as a ‘stylist’ was not possible without my two precious mentors. Ms. Akiko Ishihara, who introduced me to this world of styling and learned from her basics. Ms. Miyoko Sato who gave me the opportunity to challenge lots of experiences. The people I have encountered has become my fortune.
Mr. Masaaki Nishimiya (photographer), a very close friend of Ms. Ishihara, he quoted "Be free, Go and shoot as much you like, just shoot anything you like to shoot". I was strongly inspired by his words and I could have continued to go forth the project.
Also I thank photographer Mr. Herbie Yamaguchi whom I cannot forget at any moment. In the summer of 2011, by his offer, I was able to join the team for shooting an album jacket of the woman artist.
She was also experiencing a difficult time of her life to overcome. I reflected my life with hers and encouraged by her way of living.
I was able to keep my mind strong and to recognize the meaning of life. The album was a great success internationally. I am greatly honored and had a wonderful experience to be a part of the staffs.
My deepest gratitude goes out to all the people who made this project possible. And of all, I would not come this far without unconditional love from my parents and my brothers and sisters.
I wish for all to have a glimpse of our stylist’s dreamy world.
This experience made my dream come true, too!
